About the Yoga Farm

The Sivananda Yoga Farm is part of the International Sivananda organization founded by Swami Vishnudevananda. Our mission is to spread peace, health and joy through yoga and a yogic way of life. All are welcome to come and learn about how yoga can help maintain a healthy body, mind, and soul applied in daily life.

Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center (SYVC)

The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres is a non-profit organization named after Swami Sivananda, one of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century and founded by his disciple Swami Vishnudevananda.

The mission – to spread peace, health and joy through yoga. All are welcome to come to our ashrams and centres to learn not only about how yoga can help maintain a healthy body but also how yogic philosophy, applied in daily life, can help maintain a peaceful mind and spirit.

In 1957, Swami Vishnudevananda on instructions from his guru, Swami Sivananda, came to the West to bring the teachings of yoga. He established the first Sivananda Yoga Vedanta centre in Montreal, Canada, in 1959 and to date there are close to 60 Sivananda locations (ashrams, yoga centres and affiliated centres) around the world. Over 35,000 teachers have been trained in the TTC programs.

The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashrams and Centres are recognized worldwide for teaching yoga authentically, preserving its purity and tradition dating back several thousand years. They also offer a wide range of programs and even the possibility for spiritual growth through Karma yoga as a temporary or full time staff program participant.

Swami Vishnudevananda made the yogic teachings understandable and available to all by simplifying them into five points, showing specific ways to develop physical and mental health as well as spiritual growth through ~ Proper Exercise (Asanas), Proper Breathing (Pranayama), Proper Relaxation (Savasana), Proper Diet (vegetarian), Positive Thinking (Vedanta) and Meditation (Dhyana).

Together with Swami Sivananda’s revival of the yoga of synthesis tradition, which integrates the four paths of Yoga (Karma, Bhakti, Raja, Jnana), a well-balanced Sadhana (spiritual discipline) is achievable by those sincerely seeking for a change in their lives.

The vision of the NorCal Community Resilience Network is to transform our homes, neighborhoods, and communities into vibrant, regenerative places. We are a building a Network of solutionaries – citizen activists, businesses and grassroots organizations who are turning despair into action through people-powered, nature-inspired, and community-based solutions which are addressing some of the most pressing social and environmental problems of our time.

Here in Northern California, we are blessed with an abundance of community groups working to realize the sustainable future we need. The NorCal Community Resilience Network seeks to unite these groups into a coalition that offers strategies for collective impact and builds collaboration for a more resilient world.

Across the globe, people are working to reform, recreate, and reimagine existing systems along more sustainable lines. In our work to build resilient communities, the NorCal Community Resilience Network stands in solidarity with these regenerative efforts and with movements to resist neoliberalism, environmental destruction, and militarization at all levels.

Our Mission

The NorCal Community Resilience Network activates and supports community-based and ecological solutions to climate change, economic instability and social inequity toward a Just Transition away from fossil fuels. Our work increases capacity for grassroots projects and programs, builds solidarity across divides of race, class, sector and region, and broadens support for the Northern California community resilience movement as a whole.

Our mission

Get more people outside

Our overall mission is to get more people outside and, more specifically, to inspire the next generation of people who are passionate about exploring AND protecting our lands. Spending time outdoors has proven health benefits and fosters a deeper connection to the awesome, wild world out there. And we’re firm believers that people will only protect what they connect to and care about.

Getting more people outside really starts with access; access to land, but also to information about that land. We don’t think finding somewhere to camp should be such a time-consuming, convoluted and confusing process, which is why we started Hipcamp. We are committed to making getting outside fun, easy, and as simple as selecting what, when and where you want your camping experience to be. Need a campsite by the beach next weekend where you can bring your dog? We got you!

Our Commitments

Bonterra vineyards have been farmed organically since 1987, long before organic products were widely available in America. The inspiration for farming this way was simple: organic grapes produce the purest expressions of the varietals and land on which they are farmed. At Bonterra, we have a deep respect for the environment. Organic farming and regenerative practices enrich the biodiversity in our vineyards year after year.

Our three ranches (Blue Heron, McNab and Butler) are certified Biodynamic® by Demeter and our status is reviewed annually to ensure that each ranch adheres to the Demeter Farm Standard. The principle of Biodynamic farming is the simplest way to understand what it is: a living organism which is self-contained, self-sustaining, and follows the cycles of nature.
