Holistic Regenerative Food Shed Design for the Next Century

Rebuilding our local food systems means not just connecting local consumers to local farmers, but actually rebuilding our local foodshed into a robust interconnected community. We have begun to recapture the art of applying holistic design principles and strategies to ecologically minded kitchen design, local seasonal menu planning, energy systems, ‘waste’ streams, nose to tail cookery and butchery, cooking in community on the micro level but also adding up to regenerative food shed design on the macro level. It is a realization that food is at the nexus of our society and culture. Both agriculture and food preparation come together to create, reshape and define our physical world and thus our reality, it has been this way since the beginning. Thus, the ways we grow, cook and eat food are the vehicle to making better more regenerative systems as we reclaim traditional knowledge and combine that with appropriate technologies to create our own future. All of the world’s problems can be solved at the dinner table as we reintegrate our kitchens and our gardens.
