Joshua Chambers will lead this workshop about the work of Sepp Holzer, the Austrian rebel who has been innovating in this work since before the work permaculture was coined. His methods and his attitude are quite extreme, and his perspective is a very important one to have in our movement, as it stands as a great contrast to many other of the approaches and methods in modern permaculture (To make an example, Sepp’s almost complete mixing of all seeds together and throwing them everywhere contrasted with more common perfectly spaced and planned food forests).
This workshop will be a somewhat casual introduction to his work, the techniques he commonly employs, his attitudes in reading the landscape, reading nature, and then executing big changes with big machines.
I will also discuss the significant relevance of his ideas with California and it’s water policies.
