Based in Reno, NV, Neil Bertrando runs RT Permacultue, a small design business, is a member of Permaculture Design International, and is an active board member in Reno Food Systems, a non-profit focused on cultivating community and developing local food systems. His passion is enriching bioregions by building community and broadening the local genetic resources of practical plants and animals to relocalize resource supply networks. In his teaching and design he applies the Regrarians Platform, Permaculture and Stream restoration and erosion control practices. He has been using the Regrarians Platform to organize his design and planning process since 2015.
Over the past 17 years, he has worked in wide range of climate and cultural contexts including most of the western US, Hawaii, Haiti, Minnesota, Maine, Mexico, and Senegal. In design and development he has worked properties from 1/10th of an acre to 100’s of acres. His experience ranges across academic research, environmental monitoring and planning, upland and stream restoration, farm management, site planning and development, and local community building.
