Rebecca Newburn is the Co-Founder of Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library, a free seed lending library located in the Richmond Public Library in Richmond, California. She did her first Permaculture Design Certificate with Christopher Shein, one of the founders of BASIL, the first seed library and inspiration for Richmond Grows. She studied seed saving at Seed School with Bill McDorman of the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance. Rebecca developed a “create a library” model that has helped hundreds of seed libraries open around the world. The sister seed library list and shared resources from seed libraries around the world are at seedlibraries.net, which is a site she developed and maintains. She is a leader in the National Save Seed Sharing Campaign that advocates for our right to share seeds and is working with a group to create an international seed library organization.
